Cocina del Corazon, Post COVID-19 Update
In March 2020, following our state's strict Shelter in Place guidelines, our catering services had to be put on hold, and every event on our calendar postponed.
With the future of our catering company uncertain, we knew that one thing stood true;
our mission to provide sustainable foods to our community had to continue.
During this health pandemic, food disparities throughout the globe, our country, and our community, are more prevalent than any other time in recent history.
We've taken this time to re-structure and pivot our business to better serve our community and help provide sustainable and culturally relevant foods to our neighbors who need it most.
In many ways, this is now the beginning of an even greater cause.
We're creating a social justice enterprise with a mission to help fight food inequalities in our East Oakland community. Our goal is to provide access to sustainable foods and education, to those who might otherwise not have access.
With the support of Mandela Partners, World Central Kitchen, St. Mary's Center, and
Community Kitchens, we have been able to feed hundreds of folks every week!
